Oh Eli

My poor little Eli, he has has a rough time this summer with his mouth. He was having a fever for about 6 day so we finally took him in and he had an ear infection so they gave him a antibiotic, well he wont take the liquid, he gags and throws up, so we asked for the chewable pills. And that is where it all went down hill. His gums started to swell and were bright red, they were so swollen they were clear up level with his teeth and his top lip was puckered out so he couldn't talk, and he would NOT eat. He also had fever blisters on his lips from the fever and they had dried and were cracked and bleeding and he don't like blood. Clint took him back to the doctor after about 3 days and he took him off that and just gave him a shot and that was all that was said, and things still wasn't getting better so i when to the pharmacy to see if it was the right prescription and he said yes. He told me I needed to talk to the doctor to see if it was an allergic reaction, talked to him and he narrowed it down to thrush from the antibiotic. The poor little guy was so miserable for like 2 weeks from the fever and then the swollen gums and the thrush. I think he lost 3 pounds from not eating. The medicine they had him on for the thrush was a swish and swallow that didn't go well we had to bribe him, A LOT we got him to swish but not swallow.

After that cleared we were in the clear for a couple weeks and then last week he wrecked on his bike and hit face first in the gravel. He bloodied his nose, scraped under his nose and cut his lip up. There was a lot of blood once again.

He is doing good now and I never got a picture of either one to show for it.
